Instability Assessment of Hanging Wall Rocks during Underground Mining of Iron Ores

The paper presents the study of deformation processes development in unstable rocks hanging wall during mining a thick steeply dipping ore deposit example Yuzhno-Belozerskyi deposit. In studied field, there are problems stability rocks, represented by low-resistant shale that do not withstand significant outcrops time. A decrease is manifested form failure into stope. Based on detailed geological structure and performance stopes mining, according to survey data, an area has been identified where dilution reach 4%–8% with maximum value 12%. This also makes it possible determine most important averaged source data for performing physical modeling equivalent materials. It determined subsequent stope mass sloping bottom change exponentially increase depth location, dynamics increasing rock deformations noticeably higher than reduces quality mined increases probability propagation drifts their destruction. results characterised acceptable reliability confirmed high similarity actual broken development. found formation outcrop 1200 m2, prone volumes.
